Dimpleknowe Estate - New version

Live as of March 2006 - Click here to view site.

A new design for the Dimpleknowe Estates website, the old table based layout has been replaced with a more modern CSS based design. The 'look' of the site is now brighter, and it includes new features, such as layout plans of the properties.

The site now features virtual tours of Mill Cottage, which were supplied by VR360.com and a complete collection of new photographs.

Dimpleknowe Holiday Cottage - Old version

Now only stored for archive purposes. Click here to view site.

This was the first commercial site I created, and was done in partnership with Geoff Gray (who designed the Golf Course pages and provided most of the photos).

The purpose of the website was to sell the cottage to a worldwide customer base, and hence generate more bookings for it. The website proved very successful, as the property is now occupied for most of the year, with almost all bookings and enquiries generated from through the internet.

Ashkirk Community website

Ashkirk Village Website

This website, which is still undergoing development work, is being designed for the businesses in the Ashkirk area, which are mainly tourism related, to advertise their products and services. In addition to this, there is a section on local history, as well as a visitors guestbook. The site also offers links to various other tourist attractions in, and around, the Borders area.

Improvements, such as better quality photographs, are still to be made to the site and will be added when they become available. It is also hoped that more local businesses will feature on the site in the near future.

This was the original design for the Ashkirk website, which has now been scrapped and is only here for archive purposes. The seasons for changing it? Well, I'll let you have a look and decide for yourselves :)

Although the design was generally well received, I began to have my own doubts about the look of it. There was also an issue with incompatibilities between the way Internet Exlorer and more standards compliant web browsers displayed certain important features.

So, hence we have the completely redesigned & improved 'new' version, which can be seen above.

A website I designed for Duncan Hume, a photographer from the Yarrow Valley. Duncan specialises in photographing Mountain Biking events around Scotland, and the website was created to showcase his images, as well as offer visitors the chance to purchase prints of them.

The website has a large number of images, organised in a structured hierarchy, and displayed using a custom javascript viewer. Sadly, due to reasons outwith my control, the site was never completely finished, as you will see from the lack of content on some of the pages.

Programming Projects
Crazy Cosmos

Crazy Cosmos

Crazy Cosmos is a space shooting game, which I wrote in 2003. Although it is not 100% complete, it is still a fast, smooth and very colourful shoot-em-up, featuring some good particle effects, and frenetic gameplay.

The game was written in Blitz Basic over the course of about 2 months, and with the exception of the music, everything was designed and programmed by me.

The game should run at a decent speed on most modern computers, although with the amount that is going on on-screen, slight slowdown may be experienced on occasion.

(PC with Microsoft .NET framework installed).

Created as part of a university 'Group Project' module, the game was created by myself, Barry McDougall, John Donaldson, David Jamieson and Simon Smith. Most of the programming was done by me, using the VB.net language.

The game features 3 independent reels, a hi-lo game based on a pack of cards, and a full feature board with features such as 'skill shot' and 'win spin'. There are full sound effects and lots of flashing buttons etc.

Although it is not the greatest game ever made, it was enough for us all to pass the module with decent marks.

Galuaxian for the Sony PSP

My first creation for the Sony PSP is a shoot-em-up game which is a kind of hybrid of Galaxians and Galaga. The downloadable version is made for PSP's with firmware version 1.5 - If you have a UK PSP with a firmware version higher than 1.5 you can still play the game, but it will require extra software to get it to work. For information on this, or if you need any help installing the game, contact me.

The game was written in the scripting language, 'Lua', and has been well received by most people. At the time of writing this, the game has been available for about 3 weeks and has had well over 2000 downloads. :)

This game has now neen downloaded over 12,000 times from my own website. It is also hosted on various PSP based websites, so the total number of downloads is unknown.

PSP Ms Driller

Works on all firmware versions, but needs extra software to enable it to run on versions higher than 1.5. As above, contact me for help if required.

This is a PSP port of the PC game Ms Driller, which is itself a clone of Namco's Mr Driller. The PC version was originally written by Adas.

The game only took a short time to port, and I have slowly been working on adding new features to it. I have a version that gives the player more than one life, and works in a higher resolution, but more debugging is needed until it is stable enough for release.

I also plan to add some background music to the game, which I think will make it a bit more atmospheric.

New Shooter

Work in progress for Sony PSP

What I am currently working on is (surprise) another space shoot-em-up game. The screenshot here is very much a work-in-progress shot - as you'll have noticed with all the numbers on screen, for debugging/testing purposes.

The game features fast, bi-directional parallax scrolling backgrounds, with various different types of aliens to destroy, and also humans to save...

More features will be added, as I think them up.
