If you have ever had to call out an engineer for any purpose in the past, you'll have been through the 'take a day of work and wait around until they turn up' cycle. I know how frustrating, not to mention costly, this can be. I will call at the time that suits you best - whether it is during a weekday, in the evening or even at the weekend - and I don't charge any extra.

The prices you see are the prices you pay, no matter what time is convenient to you.

Also, I am not in the business of making a profit from selling you spare parts or unnecessary software. If a part is required to complete a job, and you want me to acquire it for you, then I will find what you need at the best price I can. You will be given the invoice/sales receipt so that you can take advantage of any manufacturers warranty that may apply, as well as see how much the item actually cost.

You may be thinking that a call to your computer manufacturers technical support section is all that you need to do to get your PC up and running again after something has gone wrong with it.

Assuming the computer is still under guarantee and it is a hardware problem, then yes, you would be right. But, if it is a software problem, that may not be your best course of action.

Normally in these situations, the technical support person will talk you through the process of using the 'recovery disc' that came with the computer. This disc will restore your PC to the same state it was in when you first unpacked it and set it up.

All your personal files, music, photos - everything - will be wiped from the machine, and often you only find this out after you have followed the advice given to you. Is that really what you want?

Sometimes there is no option but to use the recovery disc, but in most cases the machine can be sorted without losing any data that was previously stored on it - or the data can be copied onto another disc before performing the recovery.
